Last Saturday found us on sensory overload at The Scott Resort and Spa in Scottsdale. Was it the flowers? The cake? The gorgeous decor? Or was it Lauren Garcia, of What Lola Likes fame, throwing a baby shower for the moms and babies at Maggie’s Place.
Lauren found us through our Facebook page a few months ago and gave us a call. She is pregnant but wants to host a baby shower for moms in need. Would we be interested? Turns out, she wasn’t interested in any ordinary shower. Her blog, What Lola Likes, is popular with moms all over the country. She is the sister-in-law of the Bella sisters of the television show, Total Bellas. What she envisioned was asking the moms she has access to for their help in helping the moms at Maggie’s Place. She created What Baby Likes and invited her readers.
So, on Saturday, five of our moms, some of our MissionCorps and a roomful of her followers celebrated Maggie’s Place. Oh, and the Bella twins were there as well, filming for next season’s first show. Guests brought gifts for Maggie’s Place babies and moms. The room was filled to overflowing with car seats, strollers, diapers, baby onesies, bottles and all things baby. Lauren also organized a baby registry on her blog site through Amazon. The Family Resource Center’s entry way has been filled with gifts every day since.
As for Lauren, her new baby, a girl, is due in the next few weeks. All the moms at Maggie’s Place wish her health and a blessed delivery experience. On behalf of all the moms and babies, we say thank you and God Bless You and your little one.
