One of the keys to success at Maggie’s Place is our various programs. While Maggie’s Place provides housing for mothers and their babies at difficult times, it is the additional help provided by staff, volunteers and community members that help make the transition to living independently as a united family.
One program is Triple P Parenting Classes attended by both current and alumnae Maggie’s Place moms. Parenting can be difficult in the best of circumstances. Add insecurity to a family and parenting becomes even more difficult.
“The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is one of the most effective evidence-based parenting programs in the world, backed up by more than 35 years of ongoing research. Triple P gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behavior and prevent problems developing. Triple P is currently used in more than 25 countries and has been shown to work across cultures, socio-economic groups and in many different kinds of family structures.”
The program features professionally produced resources for our mom and our practitioners. One of the best parts is that it negates the feeling that parenting is something that is easy to master. It creates a community of support for parents. There are also before and after measures for a results oriented outcome.
It’s just one more approach to making families whole and healthy again. At Maggie’s Place, we are also fortunate enough to turn our Tuesday night sessions into Chick-Fil-A Nights. Our friends at Chick-Fil-A at 16th and Camelback in Phoenix donate food for our moms and kids. It’s a win-win.
