April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month
Maggie’s Places uses “Protective Factors” in our programming for moms to eliminate risk of abuse. Protective Factors are an evidence-based method to help people more effectively deal with stressful events.
Maggie’s Place programs construct and support social connections so moms are able to build a support network. Mothers need people who care about them and their children, who can be good listeners, who they can turn to for advice and call on for help. The availability and quality of social connections within their support network are important to the lives of Maggie’s Place moms.
We have a variety of events for families. This provides moms with the opportunity to build a support network and make vital social connections. Recently, we had an Easter celebration on Holy Saturday (day before Easter) that included parent and child crafts as well as an Easter Egg Hunt!
