We’re celebrating here at Maggie’s Place. In our quest to serve moms all the way through their success, we have an apartment that houses mothers choosing adoption or reunification. Support and love has many faces.
Most recently, the Catholic Leadership Circle, donated $25,000 to Maggie’s Place for a fourth apartment to house just such moms. It’s not the first time the Circle has helped Maggie’s Place efforts. In 2016, they provided funding for major maintenance needs on all of our maternity homes. What is behind this leadership circle?
Circle members vote and award grants each Spring to under-served needs in Arts & Culture, Evangelization & Sanctity of Life, Health & Wellness, Teacher’s Choice & Youth Programs, and Work Among the Poor in the Diocese of Phoenix. They are moved through a belief that faith, knowledge and experience can lead to extraordinary results.
It’s unique in that all members have a vote. They can also choose to volunteer, mentor and send resources to the organizations. Members are more involved because they are integral in the process, witnessing their membership funds redirected into the community.
Earlier this week, Maggie’s Place CEO Laura Magruder and Program Director Julie Carlberg attended the awards ceremony and were able to celebrate The Mary House apartment with Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted.
On behalf of all the Maggie’s Place mothers and babies, we say thank you to the Catholic Leadership Circle. You are not just a circle of leaders, but a circle of love. You can learn more about their work here.
