So many events…so little time. As you know, the Funraiser FanDango Rodeo was held recently at Rancho D’Siete in Scottsdale. Our generous donor, The Be A Gift Foundation, teamed with Maggie’s Place to create a rodeo complete with silent auction, bull riding, fantastic food and the gathering of people who care for others.
Money was raised along with awareness. People learned about the work and mission of Maggie’s Place; of the hard work not only of our staff and volunteers but also our moms who work so hard to create a new life for themselves and their little ones.
Our best events are always the arrival of new babies. The past weeks have seen new little ones join the crews at all the Maggie’s Place homes. Baby Kennedy joined us last month. And Baby Lola is gracing everyone at The Elizabeth House with her presence. Kiki, a MissionCorps member, sent over this picture with her feelings, “We see Christ in the babies and the mommies of Maggie’s Place. I am here for them and I am here with them. Washing the feet of baby Lola on Holy Thursday made the servant love of Christ tangible for me! Her mother stood by watching and smiling. My one desire is to love them until the end!” Blessings abound not only at Easter, but throughout the year.
Have you seen all the action that’s taken place on the courtyard? Most recently, moms and little ones celebrated Earth Day with crafts, fun and smoothies. Mother’s Day, dear to our hearts, is up next. Mother’s Day cards are being sold by parishes around the Valley and baby showers and donations have come in a steady stream to help our moms and babies. Gratitude is in the air.
Finally–an update on the MOM, Miracle of Motherhood, event. It’s usually held in the Spring. Collectively, we decided to move Corks & Forks to the Fall in order to create a better, more expansive event filled with gratitude to all who attend and support Maggie’s Place. The new date is Saturday, September 15 at Windgate Ranch. Watch for your Save The Date and get ready to have fun in the name of Maggie’s Place again.
