Member Benefits
As an AmeriCorps member you will receive valuable training and life experience to develop your personal and professional skills, as well as additional benefits that will ensure your well-being and growth throughout your service term.
Monthly Living Stipend: Members receive a monthly living stipend of $1,700, allowing you to cover basic expenses outside of housing, food, and public transportation.
Room and Board: Housing and access to community food are provided for all moms and AmeriCorps members in our family-style homes.
Optional Health Insurance: We offer medical health insurance through the Corps Network plan provided through the national AmeriCorps agency. There is no monthly premium for members. (Dental and vision coverage not included.)
AmeriCorps Retreats: These events provide an opportunity to reflect, learn, and build supportive relationships with your teammates and AmeriCorps staff.
Vacation Days & Personal Time: Year-Long service members receive 24 vacation days in addition to typical days off. To sustain service, it is encouraged to take up to three hours of personal time away from Maggie’s Place AmeriCorps duties per day.
Access to Day Off House: Our program provides access to a day off house where you can unwind, recharge, and engage in recreational activities during your downtime free of work-related interruptions.
Segal Education Award: Upon completion of your service term, you will receive a Segal Education Award corresponding to the length of your service commitment. This award can be used to further your education or pay off existing student loans, opening doors for your future endeavors. Training and Professional Development
Year-Long AmeriCorps members receive the following certifications as part of their service:
- Certified Trauma Support -Specialist through the Arizona Trauma Institute
- Mental Health First Aid
- Heartsavers Total CPR
- Stop the Bleed program
Additionally, through our comprehensive training program, AmeriCorps members are trained in:
- Conflict de-escalation and resolution
- Best practices for working with vulnerable populations
- Substance use prevention and interventions
- Protective Factors Training
- Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support
- Infant safety and development
- Working with volunteers, donors, and external stakeholders
- Integrating service experiences into a professional career
